Garnet’s name originates with the Latin words granatum malum, which means pomegranate. The deep burnt red color of this stone is said to be comparable to that of pomegranate seeds, although garnets come in a variety of other colors such as bright oranges and soft yellows. The garnet is often associated with divided love and safe returns as in Greek mythology, Hades gave Persephone pomegranate seeds to ensure her return to him.
